As we pass the last hours of 2020, a major turning point in the coronavirus epidemic, Ford is asking Americans to # Finish Strong in a new campaign to encourage people to maintain safe behaviors and look out for each other as the country reaches what it expects.

“We’re together, and Ford’s mission since the outbreak began was to help save lives,” said Ford executive Kumar Galhotra. “While many are tired of the challenges that 2020 has thrown at us, it’s time for us to pull together, protect each other and end strong until the COVID – 19 vaccines become more widespread. Lives are on the line.”

Ford announced “Breaking Bad” and “Malcolm in the Middle” star Bryan Cranston and announced filmmaker Peter Berg (“Friday Night Lights”) for the 35-second spot, which begins on January 1. The campaign recognizes the nation’s general pandemic fatigue, encouraging Americans to tighten – wear masks, wash their hands and maintain social distance until a massive mass of vaccines arrive.

“The COVID pandemic tested us all a year ago in a way we never thought possible,” Berg said. “People are tired, beaten, and now it’s very easy to reduce our defenses. But we must continue to fight for each other; we’re almost there. As we enter 2021, we want to inspire Americans to come together and save lives until the number of vaccines arrives. We must finish strong. We got it. ”

Ford said in a statement that the commitment to vaccination and other preventive and protective measures would “save 50,000 lives in the coming months”, citing the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. The number could rise to 770,000.

“Mass scale-up vaccination in 2021 means we have a way back to normal life, but there are still a few months to go,” said Dr Christopher Murray, IHME Director. “We must be vigilant in protecting ourselves until at least April, when, as our predictions suggest, vaccinations will begin to take effect.”
