The revolution of the electric vehicle is speeding up. As the mode of traveling changed from horses to fuel-generated cars, it is changing to an electric car. This, in turn, shifts the technology towards a brighter and optimistic approach. The government of the UK is imposing a ban on the sales of vehicles that require gasoline to operate from 2035. It means by 2050, there will be an end to all the hybrid and diesel vehicles that are contributing to climate change.
If this target is met, we will see evolution in the mobility and transport routines that keep us moving. With the advancement in electrification technologies and knowledge, we have now shifted towards buying repurposing car batteries.
The demand for EVs is increasing day by day. The registration of plug-in cars has increased to 160,000 from 2013 till 2018. However, they will remain on the outskirt of the mainstream unless people are offered something according to their convenience, affordability, and usability.
Therefore, the vision of the companies working on electric vehicles is to improve their reliability and performance and unlock the possibility of making battery solutions whose working is similar to the diesel and gasoline vehicles, in turn meeting the consumer’s expectations.
It will help the government meet its Road to Zero strategy by enhancing electric and hybrid transport uptake. It means that road transport can be emission-free by 2050.
But currently, everyone can’t buy these electric cars as they are too expensive. There is prevalent skepticism related to battery range, and there are many queries related to the reliability and regularity of charge points. But the companies are still working to incorporate the best technologies that can meet users’ needs by planning an effective battery charging infrastructure.
Current technologies that are used in electric vehicles require large batteries with long charging times. So, this means it is a must for the battery to be large enough to achieve the required electric range capacity. Therefore, more energy will be used for traveling. For safety purposes, affordable traction batteries should have a high level of complexity. As the technology is advancing, though, it needs to be implemented efficiently.
This demands a network of distribution that can come in line with a higher level of EV charging through different locations and neighborhoods. Pure and sustainable systems in which a large amount of energy is stored will be used in the future. The research team can explore such an idea, analyzing the possibility of reviewing the energy stored in the Electric vehicle when not utilized.
Such a concept of the vehicle to the grid can potentially communicate the imbalance of taking the idea forward of the landscape of energy connectivity. It is also assumed that connecting EV to the grid will offer a good solution to the gap in the capacity and designing the projects.
So, the era has begun and we are going to see only EVs on roads in near future. Let’s see how long does it take to happen. Surely, not more than 15 years!!
